Enterprise is the flagship label for Knappstein, first introduced with the 1994 vintage. The Enterprise Shiraz comes from the Mayor's Vineyard, a single block of vines planted in 1969 on the eastern ridge of the Clare Valley at an altitude of 500m. The outstanding quality of the wine is a direct reflection of the vineyard and the minimalist winemaker intervention.
"Long, smooth and creamy, blessed with deeply intense but genuinely ripened dark berries, cherries and plums, offset by creamy chocolate oak and firm, taut tannins. Remarkably supple and elegant." Jeremy Oliver
Expert reviews
"Fragrant, concentrated aromas of lightly minty blackberries, cassis and assertive, but balanced chocolate/vanilla oak are laced with violets and smoked meats. Long, smooth and creamy, blessed with deeply intense but genuinely ripened dark berries, cherries and plums, offset by creamy chocolate oak and firm, taut tannins. Remarkably supple and elegant. Drink 2007-2011+." Jeremy Oliver – 95 points
"Excellent, full red-purple; the bouquet offers concentrated, deep plum and black cherry fruit plus a touch of earth; the palate is at once powerful and concentrated, yet classically restrained; skilled use of French oak complemented by well balanced tannins. Best drinking: 2004 to 2014." James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion - 93 points
"Black cherry flavours. Coffee bean mocha. It's a big, ripe, rich style. There's plenty of oak and fruit to match. It's one of those soft cuddly wines. It's well balanced and attractive to drink. The soft tannins and the flavours work very well here." Ken Gargett, 2003 Sydney International Wine Competition - Blue-Gold Award Winner
"The 1998 is an extremely powerful wine with marvellous fruit complexity.... Not to be outdone, the 1999 is an amazing wine too. Again, the fruit is a delight and the densely packed tannins suggest it will cellar well. It's hard to pick a favourite - in Melbourne there was a single vote between them." Divine Magazine

South Australia
South Australian is responsible for more than half the production of all Australian wine. It is home to more than 900 wineries across 18 wine regions. The regions are Adelaide Hills, Adelaide Plains, Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Coonawarra, Currency Creek, Eden Valley, Kangaroo Island, Langhorne Creek, McLaren Vale, Mount Benson, Mount Gambier, Padthaway, Riverland, Robe, Southern Fleurieu, Southern Flinders Ranges and Wrattonbully.
Many of the well-known names in the South Australian wine industry established their first vineyards in the late 1830s and early 1840s. The first vines in McLaren Vale were planted at Reynella in 1839 and Penfold's established Magill Estate on the outskirts of Adelaide in 1844.
South Australia has a vast diversity in geography and climate which allows the State to be able to produce a range of grape varieties - from cool climate Riesling in the Clare and Eden Vallies to the big, full bodied Shiraz wines of the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale. Two of Australia's best-known wines, Penfolds Grange and Henschke Hill of Grace, are produced here. There is much to discover in South Australia for the wine lover.
