Beautifully fruited on the palate, plush and pristine, uncluttered and delicate - Nick Butler

Wise winery In Margaret River was established in 1992. The Margaret River Estate grapes are supplemented by contract-grown grapes from Margaret River, Pemberton, Manjimup and Frankland River. The 2018 Leaf Series Pinot Noir was sourced from the Channybearup Road vineyards in Pemberton.

"An earthy, spicy nose, cinnamon and strawberries in the background. Beautifully fruited on the palate, plush and pristine, uncluttered and delicate. Just enough savouriness - very well-made."  Nick Butler

"Select parcels of Pinot Noir from Pemberton's Channybearup Road vineyards were hand picked and brought to the winery for bunch selection across our sorting table. The ferment contained 30% whole bunches and the rest de-stemmed but not crushed to employ carbonic maceration. The grapes were cold soaked prior to fermentation to gently extract colour and primary flavour. Gentle pressing and 6 months barrel maturation in a selection of new and used French oak.

A wine expressive of its region fills the glass with aromas such as cherry and berry red fruits. The palate is pure with soft tannins. Fine French oak provides subtle cedar and spice."  Winery Notes

Bright cherry-red colour from centre to rim. An earthy, spicy nose, cinnamon and strawberries in the background. Beautifully fruited on the palate, plush and pristine, uncluttered and delicate. About the winery

Wise Vineyard

Wise winery was established in 1992, when Biochemist Dr Ron Wise and his wife Sandra bought the then Geographe Bay Estate. The vineyard adjacent to winery comprises 2ha of cabernet sauvignon and shiraz, and 0.5ha of zinfandel.

The Margaret River Estate grapes are supplemented by contract-grown grapes from Margaret River, Pemberton, Manjimup and Frankland River. The wines offer extraordinary value for money.

Highly awarded winemaking consultant Larry Cherubino has been engaged since the late 2000s to direct viticultural, fruit sourcing and winemaking activities. Larry’s influence has been to drive the quality of the Wise wines to a level among the highest in the Margaret River region. Wise Winery has been awarded numerous gold medals at the major Australian wine shows. Noted wine critic James Halliday has rated Wise Wine as a 5 Star Winery, a testament to the quality and consistency of their wine-making.

The Wise property is home to one of Margaret River’s most renowned restaurants, the only one to overlook both the vines and the ocean. It is a truly iconic setting, surrounded by vineyard and the pristine natural bushland of Meelup Regional Park and looking out to the sublime blue waters of Geographe Bay.

Western Australia

Western Australia is home to more than 400 wineries across nine vast and extraordinary wine regions which are almost entirely concentrated in the south-west and great southern land divisions of the State. The regions are Blackwood Valley, Geographe, Great Southern, Peel, Pemberton, Manjimup, Margaret River and Swan District.

The oldest region is the Swan Valley, the best known both nationally and internationally is Margaret River and the largest is Great Southern. The Great Southern region is further divided into the five subregions of Albany, Denmark, Frankland River, Mount Barker and Porongurup.

The history of wine production in Western Australia dates back to 1840 with the establishment of Sandalford in the Swan Valley region. The recognition of the fine wine possibilities started to be realised after the establishment of the Margaret River Region in 1967, which has become renowned for its high quality Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The other regions produce a diverse range of regionally distinct wines, from stunning Rieslings and evocative Shiraz, to a range of unique Cabernet Sauvignon blends.
